The Controller for North America plays a key leadership role in managing the financial operations of the organization across the region. This position is responsible for financial reporting, general ledger oversight, budgeting support, compliance, and providing analytical insights to the Group’s Financial Director/Controller. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast paced, hands on environment.
This role requires close collaboration with all departments, ensuring accurate financial input and delivering timely, reliable financial information to management and the parent company. |
| Responsibilities: |
1. Financial Reporting
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow).
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Canadian and US GAAP.
- Provide management information and reporting to the parent company.
2. General Ledger & Accounting Operations
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger.
- Review, prepare, and post journal entries with proper documentation.
- Oversee daily planning, execution, and coordination of all administrative and accounting activities.
- Manage the Finance department and ensure consistent financial processes.
3. Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
- Process vendor invoices, expense reports, and payments.
- Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding balances, and manage AR aging.
- Maintain strong oversight of cash flow, debtors, and creditors.
4. Bank & Account Reconciliation
- Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Record and track all banking transactions, including deposits and withdrawals.
5. Compliance & Audit Support
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, and financial regulations.
- Assist with internal and external audit preparation.
- Support ISO-related continuous improvement activities (Medical).
6. Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis
- Contribute to the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Analyze financial performance, variances, and key indicators.
- Prepare financial risk analyses and proactively identify areas for improvement.
7. Inventory, Cost & Operational Analysis
- Support the development and maintenance of administrative structures (GL creation, project accounting, inventory management, sub-ledgers).
8. Financial Systems & Technology
- Utilize ERP and financial software for reporting, reconciliation, and analysis.
- Lead improvements to the Exact Globe ERP system.
- Ensure adequate automated support for all administrative and financial processes.
Authorities
- Full management of the accounting function.
- Responsibility for accurate, complete, and timely financial administration.
- Oversight of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles.
