Staff Accountant

Position:

Reporting to the Vice President, the Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of general accounting duties. The ideal candidate for this role is an energized doer and has proven hands-on experience and ability in accounting tasks within a manufacturing environment.

About Our Client:

Our client supplies laser material processing and test systems for electronic interconnect and component production, including laser drilling and resistor trimming systems.

Responsibilities:

• Assist senior management with reporting and day-to-day finance.
• Manage bookkeeping activities and bookkeeping staff.
• Manage and/or assist with weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting. Assist with year-end adjustments and the preparation of the year-end package for the outside accountant.
• Produce a rolling 13-week cash forecast
• Month-end close of multiple QuickBooks files, including WIP, customer deposits, and foreign exchange.
• Apply customer payments, age accounts receivable, and assist with the collection of overdue invoices.
• Accounts payable with three-way match on production purchase orders.
• Prepare biweekly company employee payroll. Review and manage employee benefits.
• Prepare sales representative commissions reports and payments.
• Prepare payment runs and deposits.
• Weekly bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Month end duties include but not limited to journal entries, HST, WSIB and EHT filings.
• Job-cost analysis against quote: material, labor, freight, and warranty.
• Code warranty expense versus billable service.
• Other duties including preparation of customer and vendor account documents and responding to inquiries.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years experience in accounting in a manufacturing or job-shop environment. Knowledge of GAAP practices and applications for private enterprises, including WIP, deposits, and inventory. Ability to work in a multi-company environment and close multiple company files.
• Relevant post-secondary education with diploma or degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or CMA is an asset.
• Skilled in accounting software such as QuickBooks, MS Excel.
• Experience with manufacturing ERP systems.
• Strong attention to detail and time management.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
