The Opportunity
Our client is a well established Ontario law firm with multiple offices and a strong reputation for legal excellence, client advocacy, and continued growth.
As part of its ongoing expansion, the firm is seeking a Senior Litigation Lawyer & Team Lead to join its leadership team. This position offers the opportunity to maintain an active litigation practice while leading, mentoring, and developing a team of lawyers and support staff.
The successful candidate will play a significant role in litigation strategy, team development, operational excellence, and the continued growth of the practice.
Position Overview
- Lead a complex litigation practice while maintaining an active caseload
- Mentor and develop lawyers and legal support professionals
- Direct litigation strategy and case outcomes
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence
- Support client development and practice growth initiatives
- Contribute to firm leadership and long term strategic objectives
Leadership & Team Structure
This position will provide leadership and oversight to the firm’s litigation group, which currently consists of:

1 Senior Litigation Lawyer

4 Litigation Lawyers

1 Litigation Law Clerk
The litigation group currently operates under firm leadership. The successful candidate will play a significant role in guiding the practice, mentoring team members, supporting professional development, and contributing to the continued growth of the department.
This is a hands-on leadership role that combines active file management with responsibility for team performance, litigation strategy, and operational effectiveness.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Litigation Leadership
- Manage complex litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Develop litigation strategies and provide guidance on significant files
- Participate in mediations, discoveries, motions, hearings, negotiations, and trials
- Maintain exceptional standards of client service and legal excellence
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop lawyers and support staff
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professionalism
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning initiatives
- Provide ongoing mentorship and performance development
Practice Growth
- Build and strengthen client relationships
- Participate in business origination and growth initiatives
- Identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness
- Collaborate with firm leadership on strategic planning and resource allocation
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Significant experience managing complex litigation matters
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a legal environment
- Strong advocacy, negotiation, and litigation strategy capabilities
- Commercially minded with an interest in practice growth
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills
